The Big Golden Guitar, Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, January 2016.
Following on from my post a few days ago, Tamworth is known throughout Australia as the ‘Country Music Capital.’ I guess you’d say it was akin to Nashville in the sense that the identity of the town is very heavily rooted in country music and a great deal of the tourism trade is reliant upon the yearly 10 day music festival the town holds. In honour of that event and the ‘Country Music Capital’ title, there’s a big golden guitar erected on the outskirts of town. Australian’s love big things. I don’t really know why or how the trend even started. This is by no means the weirdest or the ugliest. This is just the first one I’ll post.
