Cafe Du Monde, French Quarter

After the Rain Storm‘ Cafe Du Monde, French Quarter, New Orleans, July 2015.

I took this photo on my last visit to New Orleans, during which I spent an obscene amount of time hanging around Cafe Du Monde, which is in the heart of Jackson Square and right by the delightful Mississippi River. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, Cafe Du Monde is an institution in New Orleans and, whether you’re there at 2pm or 4am, there is always a crowd. In order to cater for the non-stop procession of tourists (and to keep the unavoidable river rats out of the kitchen) there is also a constant stream of bohemian looking staff. When they’re not waiting tables, there outside smoking cigarettes.
